Mayday! Mayday!

I always celebrate the first Saturday in May as Mayday.  I was supposed to go to the Renaissance Fair with a friend, but she didn’t call.  Her ex husband died about a year ago and I think she’s still grieving the loss.  I did get ahold of her finally and she’s very sorry.  What can you do?  Getting mad at a person who is grieving the loss of a loved one isn’t fair.

Grief is like going to another country.  This country is always full of dark angry clouds.  It rains there daily. The food all tastes like mush.  Fun just seems impossible.

As you know, someone I loved very much died a few years ago.  It was extremely hard to keep going without this person because he was like a bedrock in my world.  Other stresses, like family grudges are just too much to deal with on top of this kind of pain.  I hope you both REALLY understand how rough the last few years have been for me on a personal level.

Another friend of mine, my prom date Jay, lost his wife recently.  She died last week.  I asked him if he wanted me to send flowers.  He said ok and I got these and sent them to the temple where they are having the memorial service tomorrow.  I hope they help him realize that he’s not alone in this dark country called grief.
