Trust Your Instincts

Dearest Bea,

You just KNOW it when a person walks into the room.  Maybe its a teacher that always seems mean, or a boy that keeps trying to get your attention.  Why is he trying to get your attention?  Is it because he wants attention – period OR perhaps he wants YOUR attention.  You can feel it, in your gut.

I know you can’t always SAY what you feel right now.  There is a power in silence though.  There is pain and there is wisdom in saying absolutely nothing.  Why do you think people around the world choose to undergo vows of silence as a religious practice?  Yes, that’s true.  They must stay quiet for weeks on end.  Can you imagine having to do THAT?  Can you imagine choosing to do that?

I was so proud of you the day we did that meditation.  For someone so young, you managed to hang in there and finish the entire exercise.  I was so impressed!  Sometimes, I tell people that you did that and they are always blown away.

Remember, you CAN control something – your thoughts.  You MUST control them.  If you hear yourself saying “I’m stupid,” or I’m not pretty,” decide quickly that those thoughts are NOT the kind of thoughts you want to carry with you.  You are so smart.  You are so strong.  You are so beautiful.  How do I know?  I have my ways.  I visit you often in my thoughts.  You are frequently with me when I’m driving my car.  I look in the rear view mirror and I see you turning the steering wheel of your imaginary car.  I bet you didn’t know I saw you doing that.  I loved it.  I did the SAME thing when I was your age.  You REALLY are “my Mini me.”

Here is a six minute meditation for you (or your sister) to do.  Gently rock your head from side to side as you listen.  Lay on the bed.  Close your eyes.  You’ll feel more centered and energized when it is over. 🙂

I Love You to the Eiffel Tower and Back Again,

Prudence XXOO

P.S. You know I’m preparing for you to come and live with me too.  But it’s your choice.  I talked to Purity about it first because she was closer to being 18 than you were.  You have a bit yet to go.  I’m not going to stop writing you.  Don’t you worry.  I don’t care how long it takes.  And even if you cannot read this, it will be here when you can.  You will KNOW, beyond a shadow of a doubt how loved and missed you are/were.  XXOO

Now, go do your meditation…
