Recycled Dreams

Remember Bea when I bought you this sparkly shirt and jacket for Christmas?  Stepmom didn’t like it.  So we took it to my house to wear when you visited.  Well, I borrowed it for one of my plays.  I hope that is ok? I needed it for my play set in exotic India.  The little girl wearing it has been asked to be especially careful of it. I know you liked this top.  And we can recycle our dream of your getting to wear it.  Someday, we can put it in your hope chest.  What is a hope chest?  It is a place were a lovely young lady puts things she wants for the future: wedding things, baby things, travel things…whatever you wish for your future is put in this chest.  Right now, I just have a shoe box.  Most of my dreams have come true.  I still have a few things I wish for.  We can put this top and jacket (after I have it dry cleaned) into your hope chest so that YOUR daughter can wear it.  Imagine that!!! See, nothing is really taken from us.  We just need to wait for things to change.  It’s the one thing you can count on!!!
