Pearl Harbor Remembered

Grandpa and Grandma went to Hawaii several years back for their 35th wedding anniversary.  While they were there, they toured the Pearl Harbour Memorial Museum.  Grandpa was a U.S. History teacher before he retired, remember?  So we should take a few minutes to remember this fateful day.  After December 7th, 1941, the U.S. could not, in good conscience, stay out of the war in Europe.

The music of this era in history is some of my favorite music.  It’s called big band music.  Large orchestras with a brass section, piano, vocals and drums.  Swing music, which was similar, had African ( drums) and Jewish influences (piano).  Swing music is still popular today.  This is one of my favorite bands, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, singing Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer.  Give it a listen.  In honor of all those folks who died at Pearl Harbor on this day in 1941.
