Here’s a bit of Grandma and Grandpa trivia: What date on the calendar was their first date?  July 23rd 1967.  Yes, Purity’s birthday is the anniversary of the day your grandparents went on their first date.  Here’s the details: They were both in the Air Force.  Grandma was an officer and Grandpa was an unlisted man.  They were NOT supposed to hang out together.  But when Grandma found out Grandpa was going to see the movie, The Sound of Music too, she invited him to go with her.  He stole a kiss just as the date ended and the rest is history.  This is one of my favorite scenes from the movie.  Maria (Julie Andrews) is singing to the children she is in charge of.  They have come into her room frightened because of a thunderstorm.
