My Car Accident

No, this didn’t happen recently.  I’m OK.  This happened a long time ago.  I do have pictures of it but this picture was pulled from the internet.  But a truck did hit me at a high rate of speed and my car – another Honda – was totaled.  Let me tell you what happened and how I KNOW that other (more magical universe) exists.

I’m driving toward Grandma and Grandpa’s house.  I am stopped and waiting for a car to pass so I can turn.  I look in my rear view mirror and I see a truck coming.  It is coming fast.  And it is not slowing down.  As it gets closer, I can tell I’m going to get hit.  I have no seat belt on.  So, I grip the steering wheel and close my eyes.

“God, take me now,” I whisper.  WHAM!

The truck from behind hits me and my car spins into the other lane.  That car – not thinking that my car will be in the way continues to move forward and she hits me.  My car spins back into the first lane and I am hit a third time.  There were no air bags in those days.  The truck driver peels away.  It was a hit and run.  Pretty horrible, huh?

However, things were not as you might think.  When I asked God to “take me.” He did.  I did feel the first impact. But then, I entered a kind of dream like state.  I was imagining myself like a bunny rag doll moving through the air.  And at one point, my bunny head went towards the steering wheel of the car.  Just then, a hand appeared and pulled my bunny chin backwards.  When the accident was over, I was squatted with one foot firmly planted on the driver’s and passengers seats.  My hand had a vice grip on the parking brake.  The car had crumpled around me.

I scrambled out of the car the best I could.  My legs were very wobbly.  Believe it or not – Grandpa was three cars behind the last person who hit me, so he stopped and was right there to help me before the ambulance got on the scene.  Once I got to the hospital, I was informed that I had been hit three times.  I had no broken bones or internal injuries. And the only scratch I had – was a small cut on – my chin.

Now, you tell me that other universe does not exist.  I was there.  I KNOW it does.  Now, you do too!
