Moon River

I hung out with my friend Lois from temple today.  She is helping me with the food for the Moon Dance.  Jewish people love bagels, cream cheese and lox.  Lox is raw salmon.

I know, YUCK! But I love it!

I’m going to the Farmer’s Market on Thursday morning to get fresh tomatoes, red onions and cucumbers to garnish the bagels. Those little berry looking things inside the tomato are called capers. Capers are basically edible flower buds.  They taste very salty and are used as a seasoning on food.  Only the best for my temple friends.  Lois is making the lox platter.  We figured it might look something like this when it’s done.

You don’t have to eat it.  But you’ll miss the moon cake!  I know you both like cake.  Anything with sugar, right!

Now, I need to start finding music for the dance part of the party.  No reason you both can’t help me do that.  Some of the music will even have the word “moon” in the title or in the lyrics.  This song is called “Moon River.” Henry Mancini wrote the song in 1961.  The song appears in the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s with my favorite actress, Audrey Hepburn.

This video shows you various pictures of the moon as the song plays.  It will be a nice slow song when we need to calm the party down a bit.
