I know I said I’d keep all advice in the section marked Sisterly advice. But this is special and very important advice. Being an aunt is hard. You are NOT the mother. You will see this beautiful baby and you will feel such a flood of love to protect her. But it will be made clear to you very quickly that you can only do so much. Sometimes, you have to watch the child go through difficult times. You can only try to help the situation and you must be careful NOT to step on mother’s toes. One really good thing about your biological mom was she never resented me helping. Being an aunt means you learn to love unconditionally in situations you have less control over. You just love the nieces and nephews and try to be there for them.

??????? Yes!
Being an Aunt is tricky. You can never be sure if you are stepping on the parent’s toes. So, you have to be careful what you say. Sometimes you are screwed no matter WHAT you do. That’s how it was for me and my nieces and nephews.
