Don’t Die with Your Song Still Inside You

Quiet day overall.  Quiet days force you to think about what’s most important to you.  And just how do you find your “song?”  What IS that exactly?

Your song is your purpose.  Why are you on this earth?  And it isn’t just to do dishes and do laundry and go to work.  There has to be more.  There has to be a passion or spirit in what you do.  You should enjoy (most of the time) what you do.  If not, you are living a life dictated by others.  You are living a life of drudgery.  You will not be able to do this drudgery forever.  You need to find your “song.”

The good news is, you don’t need a huge life change to make this happen.  You just need a shift in your thinking.  I find a lot of inspiration from the psychologist Carl Jung and Dr. Wayne Dyer. Dr. Dyer wrote a book called The Shift.  It discusses how you can find your inner song regardless of your circumstances.  Life doesn’t usually happen all at once.  It happens in a series of shifts.

For example, I used to feel my life decisions had been made according to the will of my parents.  But, then I moved to LA.  I did not quit my job.  I just shifted my living space.  I followed my bliss.  In LA, I was exposed to art, culture, music – everything is ever dreamed of.  In the end though, I missed home.  So I moved back.  I’m very happy living in my/our town.

My life centers around being an artist.  I direct children in plays/movies.  I participate in plays and movies myself.  Ok, so it’s not Hollywood. But I don’t care. I write a daily blog.  I’m writing a children’s book.  And I’m taking English Country Dance classes online. I’m in Hebrew class (both teaching and learning).  I’m in Bible study too!  I’d REALLY like to take a drawing class.  My life is FULL of inspiration.  And it was just a matter of a few shifts in thinking and living.

What do you want to do with your life?  What brings you bliss??
