Out of This World Birthday: Part Alpha

Bea was feeling a little glum.  She had been practicing to take her driver’s test.  But every time she got close to passing , she’d miss something important and fail.

“It’s gotta be pretty close to perfect,” Purity told her as Bea threw the tutorial book onto her bed.

“Why can’t I get this?” Bea asked herself as she snapped on the little TV in the room they both shared.  An older movie about a group of kids going into outer space was on.

“Oh, I love this movie,” said Purity.  So they both watched for a few minutes.

Bea was already starting to feel better. In fact, as she watched the movie she started to think about her sister, Prudence and how Prudence had asked where she wanted to go on her birthday.  In this moment watching the kids up in the space shuttle, she wished she’d asked to go into outer space.

Prudence seemed to have the gift of magic and she was able to “see” Bea and her older sister Purity despite family squabbles. She was also able to take the girls on amazing adventures.  They seemed to be able to go anywhere.

In fact, Prudence was teaching them how to cast spells of their own. And both girls seemed to be getting used to having this ability.

Bea realized she could have any kind of birthday she wished. She just needed to start crafting her spell.  So, she put her driving tutorial aside for a few minutes and got her pen and a piece of paper.

“What are you writing?” asked Purity.

“I’m writing my birthday story,” replied Bea.

“Are we really going to just stick around here?” asked Purity. “I wanna get away!”

“Me too,” said Bea.  “And I know just where I want to go.”

“Prudence will be there too?” asked Purity.

“Of course,” exclaimed Bea. ” I hope my powers of magic are strong enough to cast this…”

Bea started to write.  She went on YouTube and found the perfect music to help set the mood. They listened to the relaxing music as Bea continued to write. Purity worked on her homework.

“Ok, I’m ready!” said Bea about a half hour later.

“But what about dinner? Step-brother will be calling us in a few minutes,” sighed Purity.

“Remember what Prudence could do…Time doesn’t matter,” said Bea.  “We can go on a long space adventure with Prudy and STILL be back in time for dinner. In fact…I’m wondering if we can be in THREE places at once.”

“What do you mean,” asked Purity.

“You’ll see,” smirked Bea.
