Two Dancing Princesses: Part 4

In the morning, the girls were awoken by the strange sound.

“What IS THAT?” asked Bea.

“That’s a steel drum band,” said Prudence.  “We must be in the port of Princess Cays (pronounced Keys) on the island of Eleuthera.

“What are we going to do here?” asked Purity.

“Relax!” sighed Prudence.  “School has exhausted me!”

“Me too” said the girls in unison. They got dressed and got their things together.  Then they caught a quick breakfast on deck.

As they went down the gangway and off the ship, the steel drum band continued to play welcoming all the cruise ship visitors to this exotic island getaway…

The island with its stretch of white sandy beaches, colorful bungalows and endless azure ocean looked inviting, indeed.

It did not take the girls long to decide to rent a private air-conditioned bungalow on the beach and a few pieces of snorkeling equipment.

As they were sitting on the beach putting on their flippers and goggles, a familiar red-head came up to them –

“Grandma!” shouted the girls!  “What are you doing here?”

“I wanted to see my beautiful granddaughters!” said the older lady.  “You are both so breath-taking!” She reached up to kiss each of them on the forehead.  Seeing their eighty three year old grandmother in flippers and goggles was quite an experience.  Before long, they were swimming is the emerald blue water. The world below the surface was completely opened up to them…

After snorkeling for awhile, the girls decided they were hungry, so they went off to have an island barbecue lunch at the Sea Breeze Grill.  There was barbecued chicken, beef, sausage – so many choices.  For side dishes, the girls could choose from potato salad, fresh watermelon, fresh pineapple or strawberries.  Fruity drinks of all kinds were also available.  The girls simply stuffed themselves.

“Don’t eat too much,” warned Grandma.  “You don’t want to get sick.”

After an afternoon of sitting on the beach in front of their private bungalow and being waited on by their own personal “assistants,” the girls reluctantly said good bye to their Grandma.  They were sad for a bit.

“Hey,” said Purity, “Let’s take in one last adventure before heading back to the ship: a ride on a banana boat.”

“You do realize they move pretty fast,” said Prudence.

“Yes, I get that!  I just want to ride on it,” said Bea smiling.  It had been such an amazing day and they knew the ride on the banana boat would top it off nicely.

As they waited on the banana boat with the other passengers, their ride coordinator talked to them about a few things…

All in all, it was an amazing day!  The girls came back to the ship slightly sunburned but filled with exciting experiences to fill their heads with pleasant dreams for many years to come.
