San Francisco Roadtrip: Part 2

The girls stopped at a station to get gas and last minute munchies.  And then, they were off!  It turned out that Purity was a very good highway driver and it did not long before Prudence sat back in her seat and relaxed.  Bea sat behind Purity and looked out the window.

“I’m learning to drive too, Prudence.” remarked Bea.

“How’s it going?” asked Prudy.

“Good,” replied Bea.  I just have trouble parallel parking.

“Yeah, that’s a tough move to master.  You’ll get it.  Just don’t give up!” said Prudy.

For the next several hours, the girls took turns finding music on Spotify to drive to.

“Let’s do that one about dreams and driving,” said Purity.  Bea had not used Spotify before.  But it did not take her long to figure out how to get to Billy Ocean’s version of the song, “Get Outta My Dreams.”

The girls danced in their seats, sang, and laughed all the way down the interstate.

It wasn’t long, therefore when they could see the ocean.  They had made it to the Pacific Coast Highway. Now, it was smooth sailing up the coast.  Purity and Prudence changed places in Santa Barbara and the girls kept on driving.

It seemed like they might NEVER get there. They saw a whole lot of coastline though.

“Girls…look up.  We’re here,” said Prudence. “This is the Bay Bridge.  San Francisco is just across the bay.  Come on! Get off your phones!”

“I’m taking pictures, Prudy!” remarked Bea.

“Me too!”said Purity.

“Ok!” said Prudy.  She smiled as she said it.

It wasn’t long before they were in the city watching the cable cars climb up the steep streets.  They even got to watch a cable car get turned around the way it was over a hundred years ago.

“Do we get to ride in a cable car?” asked Bea.

“Would any trip to San Francisco be complete without THAT? asked Prudence.

“NOOOOO!” they said in unison.

But first we need to get to our hotel.  They drove through the city and up to a place called Nob Hill.

“Look at THAT place!  It looks like a palace!” remarked Purity.

“Do you think so?” asked Prudence.  “That’s our hotel – The Fairmont.  For the first time on the trip, the girls were speechless.
