San Francisco Roadtrip:Part 1

“Let’s just cut to the chase,” a voice said in the early morning light.

The sun in the girls’ room had just begun to peek through the window.  But, even in their half asleep states, the girls knew the voice of their oldest sister, Prudence.

“Prudy!” they both jumped out of their beds and into her arms.  They hugged her for a long while.  Their sister’s arms were warm to the touch and so inviting.

“Are we packed?” asked Prudence.

“We’ve never been to San Francisco so we weren’t sure what to bring…” replied Purity. image

“Ok, you’ll need your swimsuits for the pool in the hotel, jeans, t-shirts, your make up, your toothbrush and don’t forget your inhaler – Purity,” said Prudence.

“Should we bring our dresses from Paris?” asked Bea.

“Always a good idea to bring a Parisian dress!” retorted Prudence.  “We are going on a road trip, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do it with some style! Bea, make sure you tell me by the end of the trip where you want to go on your birthday.  Inquiring minds want to know…” said Prudence.

“How are you going to top Paris?” asked Purity as she finished packing her duffle bag.  “That was an amazing birthday trip!”

“I’m not sure,” said Bea.  She stopped and noticed that someone was cuddled up in her bed.  She slowly went over and pulled the covers back. Another version of herself was sleeping soundly.  If Purity and Bea were needed for the next few hours, Bea knew these realistic looking versions of them would jump in. But as she pulled on her shoes, Bea couldn’t help but notice,”My hair looks really weird in the back!”

“Come on Bea, let’s go!  You can fix her – your hair later!” remarked Purity as she pulled her youngest sister out of the room.

They walked down the driveway.  Purity opened the front door of Prudy’s Hummer.  Just then, Prudy slipped by her and got into the passenger seat of the car.

“Do you want me to drive?” asked Purity.

“Yes,” said Prudence.  “You drive the first leg of the trip to San Francisco, I’ll drive the second.  It’s an eight hour trip so we’ll be there by check in time.”

“Check in time?” asked Bea.

“Yes, most hotels allow you to start checking in around 3pm.  We’ll drive all day and get into the bay area just around the time we are sick of driving.

Purity got a CD out and showed it to Prudence.

“You know it, gal!  Put that into the CD player!!” Prudence said with much mirth. Purity obediently followed her oldest sister’s instructions.  Before long, They were jammin’ down the road to one of their favorite songs, “Perfect Day,” by Hoku.
