Being Authentic

Being authentic means saying no to things you don’t want to do.  Sometimes, you don’t have this power.  So when you get it, you are careful to use it.  Today, I called up the writer of a play who had offered me a part and turned it down.  I read the script and I was just not that impressed.  I really wanted to like it, but it just seemed kinda flat.  I know that I’m no great judge of writing.  But I know what I like.  I just could not see myself finishing this production.  I’m uber busy now with school, drama club and Hebrew class.  I have to be a little selfish and do things that I enjoy with the small amount of spare time for have.  I actually walked out of Bible study yesterday for the same reason.  I just was not getting much out of it on this particular day, so I got my stuff together, put on my coat and walked out.  Yes, it’s just THAT simple… Try it sometime.  You’ll feel so in charge of your life.  The truth is you continuously choose to be in situations of school, class and life.  Don’t make a habit of walking out either.  The few times you DO choose to walk will have a greater impact on others if you don’t do it very often.
